The Perfect Short Getaway
Not everyone has a full week to spare, but four days on Sumba Island is enough to experience the magic that makes this destination extraordinary. The 4-Day Horse Riding and Beach Adventure concentrates the best of our riding experiences into an action-packed long weekend, covering pristine coastlines, ocean horse swimming, and a visit to an ancestral village — all without feeling rushed or exhausting.
This package is particularly popular with couples visiting from Bali who want a unique side trip, business travelers extending their Indonesia itinerary by a few days, and experienced riders who know exactly what they want and prefer a concentrated riding experience. Every day features substantial saddle time combined with natural beauty stops, swimming breaks, and cultural encounters that transform a simple riding trip into a genuine adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 4 days enough to experience Sumba?
Four days covers the essential experiences — beach riding, horse swimming, cultural villages, and stunning scenery. For deeper exploration including East Sumba and additional rest days, we recommend the 5 or 7-day packages. Many guests return for a longer trip after experiencing the 4-day adventure.
Can I extend to 5 or more days during the trip?
Yes, subject to availability. Many guests decide to extend once they experience Sumba’s magic. We can add extra riding days, rest days, or activities like surfing and spa treatments. Let your guide know and we will arrange everything.
What flights connect to Sumba from Bali?
Daily flights operate from Bali (DPS) to Tambolaka (TMC) in West Sumba, taking approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Airlines include Wings Air and NAM Air. We recommend booking flights at least 2 weeks in advance as seats are limited.

Book NowMaking the Most of 4 Days in Sumba
Four days in Sumba strikes the ideal balance for travellers who want more than a taster but cannot commit to a full week. The 4-Day package covers both coastal and inland riding, includes a village cultural visit, and provides enough time to develop a genuine bond with your Sandalwood Pony — something that makes the riding experience dramatically richer compared to a single-day activity. Most guests who book 4 days describe it as the sweet spot between comprehensive adventure and efficient use of their holiday time.
Itinerary Overview
Day 1 begins with your arrival and orientation ride along the beach. Day 2 is a full coastal exploration day featuring swimming with horses and an extended beach gallop. Day 3 heads inland for highland riding through Marapu villages and savanna trails. Day 4 finishes with a sunrise ride, farewell brunch, and airport transfer. Each day includes 3-4 hours of riding with breaks for photography, cultural encounters, and relaxation.
Perfect Add-On to Bali or Flores
Many guests book the 4-Day package as part of a wider Indonesian itinerary, combining it with time in Bali, Flores, or Komodo. Direct flights from Bali to Tambolaka take just one hour, making Sumba easily accessible as a side trip. We coordinate with your other travel plans to ensure seamless connections and can arrange airport transfers that align perfectly with flight schedules.
Is 4 days enough to experience Sumba properly?
Four days gives you a wonderful introduction to Sumba’s beaches, culture, and equestrian adventure. While longer packages offer deeper immersion and access to remote areas, the 4-Day package is thoughtfully designed to deliver the essential Sumba Horse experience without feeling rushed.
