What Is Included

All Sumba Horse experiences include expert English-speaking guides with a minimum of 5 years experience, carefully matched premium Sandalwood horses, certified safety helmets and equipment, comprehensive insurance coverage, professional photography, and locally sourced refreshments. Multi-day packages additionally include accommodation at partner properties, three daily meals featuring local and international cuisine, all ground transportation including airport transfers, and a curated digital photo album delivered within one week of your departure.

Private and Custom Experiences

For couples seeking romance, families with children, corporate groups, or photographers wanting exclusive access, we offer fully private experiences with customizable itineraries. Private ride surcharges range from USD 50 to 150 depending on the experience type. Understanding Our Pricing

Sumba Horse packages are designed as all-inclusive experiences where the only additional costs are your flights to Sumba and personal expenses. Every package includes professional riding guides, matched horse, comfortable accommodation at local lodges and guesthouses, three meals daily, unlimited water and refreshments, airport transfers, village entrance fees and cultural donations, basic riding equipment including helmets, and a digital photo package delivered after your trip.

How We Compare

Equestrian travel is a global niche, and we believe Sumba offers exceptional value compared to equivalent destinations. Patagonia riding expeditions typically cost $3,500-5,000 for 7 days. Morocco desert rides range from $2,000-3,500 per week. Mongolian steppe journeys sit at $2,500-4,000. Iceland’s highland rides cost $3,000-4,500 for 6 days. Our 7-day Sumba Explorer at $2,200 delivers comparable adventure quality at 40-60% less, with the added benefits of tropical climate, warm ocean swimming, and a cultural experience unlike any other riding destination on earth.

Group and Custom Pricing

Groups of 6 or more riders receive 10-15% discount on standard package rates. Corporate retreat pricing includes team-building activities, meeting spaces, and customized itineraries. Family rates are available for children under 12 riding with parents. Solo traveler supplements are minimal — we work to match solo riders with small groups departing on similar dates to minimize additional costs.

Custom itineraries start at $500 per person per day and can be tailored to specific interests, fitness levels, dietary requirements, or celebration events. Honeymooners, photographers, and cultural researchers all benefit from custom routing that optimizes time for their particular interests.

Booking and Payment

A 30% deposit secures your preferred dates, with the remaining balance due 14 days before arrival. We accept bank transfer, credit card (Visa, Mastercard), and PayPal. Cancellations more than 30 days before departure receive a full refund minus processing fees. Cancellations 15-30 days out receive a 50% refund or full credit toward future dates. We strongly recommend travel insurance with trip cancellation coverage — we can suggest providers who cover equestrian activities.
