Booking Process
Reserving your Sumba Horse experience is straightforward and stress-free. Here is how it works from first inquiry to riding day.
Step 1 — Initial Inquiry: Contact us via WhatsApp or email with your preferred dates, number of riders, experience level, and any special requirements. Our team will review availability and suggest the best package for your group.
Step 2 — Custom Itinerary: Within 24 hours, we send you a personalized itinerary with day-by-day details, accommodation options, pricing breakdown, and what to expect. We welcome feedback and adjust the plan until it matches your vision perfectly.
Step 3 — Confirmation and Deposit: Secure your booking with a 30 percent deposit via bank transfer or international payment. Full payment is due 14 days before your arrival date. We provide detailed payment instructions and confirmation receipts.
Step 4 — Pre-Trip Preparation: One week before your trip, we send a comprehensive preparation guide covering what to pack, weather forecasts, airport transfer details, and health and safety reminders. We also confirm your horse assignment based on your skill level.
Step 5 — Arrival and Adventure: Our team meets you at Tambolaka Airport with a warm welcome. From there, every detail is handled so you can focus entirely on enjoying the ride of a lifetime.
Our Location
Sumba Horse is based in Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Our main stable and training grounds are located approximately 30 minutes from Tambolaka Airport, surrounded by rolling grasslands and traditional villages. The region offers year-round warm tropical weather with the best riding conditions from April through November during the dry season.
Sumba Island is accessible via direct flights from Bali (Ngurah Rai Airport) with a flight time of approximately 90 minutes. Several airlines including Garuda Indonesia and Wings Air operate daily routes. We can arrange private airport transfers, accommodation at partner luxury resorts, and complete travel logistics for international visitors.
What is the best time to book?
We recommend booking at least 4 to 6 weeks in advance, especially during peak season from June to September. Last-minute bookings are possible depending on availability but early booking ensures your preferred dates, horses, and accommodations are secured.
Do you offer airport transfers?
Yes. Complimentary airport pickup and drop-off at Tambolaka Airport is included in all multi-day packages. For single-day experiences, transfers can be arranged at a nominal fee. We also offer transfers from Waingapu Airport for guests arriving from eastern Sumba.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund for cancellations made 30 or more days before the trip. Cancellations 15 to 29 days prior receive a 50 percent refund. Within 14 days, the deposit is non-refundable but can be applied as credit toward a future booking within 12 months.
