Sumba, Place by Place

The waterfalls, villages, savanna and beaches our trips actually visit — grouped the way the routes are.

What You Will Actually See

Sumba is four landscapes in one island, and most trips cross all of them: limestone coast in the southwest, forest and waterfalls inland, open savanna in the middle, and the eastern grasslands running down to Walakiri.

The groups below follow that order, which is also the order a four, five or six day trip travels in.

About These Images

These show the destinations our routes visit, not a particular departure. If you would like to see photographs from a specific date or a specific hotel before booking, ask us and we will send what we have.

Photographs you take on the trip are yours. Drone and mirrorless documentation is included on every trip we run, unedited, and we hand it over at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is photography included in the trip?

Yes. Drone and mirrorless camera documentation is included on both the open trip and the private trip, unedited, at no extra cost. It is listed in the Included column on both product pages.

Can I use these images myself?

Ask us before reusing anything from this page. Photographs taken during your own trip are a different matter — those are yours to use as you like.

Where were these taken?

Every location shown is a scheduled stop on at least one of our routes. The captions name the place; the itineraries on the two product pages say which day you reach it.

Do you have photographs of the hotels?

Message us and we will send current pictures of Sinar Tambolaka, Hotel Ella, Hotel Padadita or Lelewatu, whichever your trip uses. We would rather send you real ones than post something that dates.

See It in Person
