Before You Compare

At two travellers the open trip is the cheaper option. From roughly four, the private trip costs less per person and gives you the vehicle to yourselves. Between those two points the answer depends on the exact number, because the private rate steps with car capacity rather than sliding smoothly.

The private rate also covers a longer trip: 5D4N and 6D5N add Purukambera savanna, Lapopu and Matayangu waterfalls and extra hills, along with the extra nights and meals.

Nothing on this page includes flights. Both trips land at Tambolaka and leave from Waingapu, which are different airports about four hours apart — a return ticket to Tambolaka will not work, and it is the single most expensive mistake we see people make.

Are these prices per person or per group?

Per person, in USD, in both tables. On the private trip the per-person figure falls as the group grows because the vehicle and guide are shared between more of you.

Why does the private price go up at five and nine travellers?

The rate steps with vehicle capacity rather than falling smoothly. Message us with your exact group size before booking and we will confirm the figure — and tell you whether adding or dropping one traveller changes it.

Is there a deposit, and when do I pay the rest?

Message us and we will send the current booking terms with your quote. We would rather give you the terms that apply on your dates than publish a figure here that drifts out of date.

Do the prices include flights?

No. Flights to Tambolaka (TMC) and out of Waingapu (WGP) are yours to book. Everything on the ground from the airport pickup to the final drop-off is included.
