Waterfalls
Tanggedu · Waimarang · Weekacura
Swim and play in the water at Tanggedu, the best known of Sumba's cascades, with Waimarang and Weekacura on the same route through the interior.

From USD 459 per person. East to West Sumba in four days — waterfalls, savanna, traditional villages and empty beaches, shared with a small group.
Check AvailabilitySumba has been called the Hawaii of Indonesia, and the comparison holds where it matters: pristine beaches, waterfalls that drop straight into forest, and almost nobody there. If Bali and Komodo have started to feel crowded, this is the alternative.
This open trip covers the island's headline destinations — Tanggedu Waterfall, Tanarara Hill, Ratenggaro and Prai Ijing — in four days and three nights, crossing from Southwest Sumba to East Sumba. Seeing Sumba properly usually takes far longer than that; this route is built to compress it without turning it into a blur.
Being an open trip, you share the journey with other travellers. Most people count that as part of it.
Ten destinations, grouped into the three landscapes the island is known for.
Fixed departure dates. Pick one that fits your flights — the trip runs once four people have booked it.
Message us with your preferred date and we will tell you how many places are already taken on it.

Southwest Sumba · Night 1
Your base for the first night, close to Tambolaka Airport and the Ratenggaro and Pero Beach side of the island. Or a similar property of the same standard.
East Sumba · Nights 2 and 3
In Waingapu, positioned for the Tanarara savanna, the waterfalls and Walakiri Beach on days three and four. Or a similar property of the same standard.
Sumba is dry, bright and further from a shop than you expect. Pack for sun, water and no signal.
This is a sightseeing trip. The scheduled programme is villages, waterfalls, hills and beaches — it does not include horse riding. If you would like a ride added around these dates, ask us and we will tell you what is possible.
Meeting point is Tambolaka Airport (TMC) in Southwest Sumba, or your hotel if you are already staying nearby. Arrive the day before, or on the day by 12:00 PM WITA. The trip finishes at Waingapu Airport (WGP) in East Sumba, so book your outbound flight from Waingapu rather than Tambolaka — this catches people out.
Because departures are confirmed on a four-person minimum, avoid booking non-refundable flights until we have confirmed your date is running.
You join a small group of other travellers rather than booking the whole vehicle and guide privately. It keeps the cost at USD 459 instead of a private charter rate, and rooms are shared with a same-gender participant unless you pay the private room supplement.
No. The scheduled itinerary is sightseeing — traditional villages, waterfalls, savanna hills and beaches. Riding can be discussed separately around your dates; message us and we will tell you what fits.
The departure is not confirmed until four participants have booked it. We will tell you where a date stands before you commit, which is why we suggest holding off on non-refundable flights until confirmation.
In to Tambolaka (TMC) in Southwest Sumba, out of Waingapu (WGP) in East Sumba. They are different airports about four hours apart by road — the trip crosses the island, so a return ticket to Tambolaka will not work.
Yes, for USD 99 per room, subject to availability. Without it, rooms are twin sharing and you will be paired with a participant of the same gender.
Medium. There are short hikes to hilltops and waterfalls over uneven ground, and two early starts — 5:30 am on the final day. No specialist fitness or experience is needed.
Tell us which departure you are looking at and we will confirm how many places are left on it.
