Ask Which Suits You
Everything else on this page is the difference between these two.
Both trips cover the same island and much of the same ground — Ratenggaro, Weekuri Lagoon, Tanarara savanna, the waterfalls, Walakiri at sunset. What differs is who you travel with and how much the schedule bends.
The open trip is the simpler answer for two people: a fixed price of USD 459 each, fixed dates, and a small group you join. The private trip costs more per head at two travellers and less per head from four, and it moves on your dates rather than ours.
The differences are the schedule and the vehicle. Everything below is the same on both.
Two travellers, flexible dates, watching the budget: take the open trip. At USD 459 each it is the cheaper of the two at that group size, and meeting the other travellers is the point rather than the compromise.
Four or more travelling together: the private trip is usually cheaper per person and always more flexible. The per-person rate falls as the group grows, so a family or a group of friends generally ends up paying less than the open trip price while getting the vehicle to themselves.
Fixed dates that must work: private. The open trip only departs once four people hold the same date, so it is the wrong choice if your flights are already booked and non-refundable.
Neither trip includes horse riding — both are sightseeing itineraries. If you want a ride added around your dates, ask and we will tell you what is possible.
It depends entirely on group size. At two travellers the open trip is cheaper. From about four the private trip costs less per person and gives you the vehicle to yourselves. Send us your group size and we will tell you which way round it falls.
Yes. Two is the minimum, and the trip runs on your dates without waiting for anyone else. You pay more per person than on an open trip at that size, which is what buys the flexibility.
The departure is not confirmed until it does. We tell you where a date stands before you commit, which is why we suggest holding off on non-refundable flights until we confirm.
Not as a standard package. Six days is the longest route we operate. If you want to extend, tell us what you have in mind and we will say honestly whether we can arrange it.
No. Both are sightseeing itineraries — villages, waterfalls, savanna and beaches. Riding is a separate conversation; ask us and we will tell you what fits around your dates.
Send your group size and your dates. We will tell you which trip costs less and which one actually fits.
